CROPSCI412	POST HARVEST HANDLING AND SEED TECHNOLOGY	3.0	2L/3Lab	This course provides students with scientific and practical knowledge on the physiological, physical, and biochemical changes that occur in agricultural products after harvest. It emphasizes the principles, methods, and technologies used to maintain product quality, minimize postharvest losses, and ensure seed viability and vigor for planting. Topics include postharvest physiology, maturity indices, handling and storage techniques, packaging, transportation, quality standards, seed processing, testing, and certification. Laboratory and field exercises train students to evaluate product quality, assess postharvest losses, and perform seed handling, grading, and germination testing. The course integrates sustainability, safety, and efficiency in managing postharvest systems and seed operations for both small-scale and commercial production.
